Took this driving back from Cauldshiels Loch towards Melrose.
Still experimenting with HDR.
Using 5 images taken 1 stop apart, merged these images in Photomatix at default settings.
Using Paint Shop Pro X2.
Opened the merged image.
Used Histogram Adjustment to darken the sky slightly.
Thought the sky looked OK but the grass and trees did not, they looked too bright after HDR merge.
Copied the middle exposed image and added this as a new layer.
Cropped the sky from this layer using magic wand.
Set Opacity to 80% for this layer.
Merged layers.
Cropped image.
Removed a couple of spots using clone brush.
Resized for TL. |

Hi Derek,
Lovely representation of htis landscape with proper enlightment, pleasent and soft colours. The exposition of the darker clouds are also impressive. Good job, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof
Your certainy getting the hang of the HDR and PP work Derek, and you use it sparingly as not to overdo the shot.
You have ideal landscape light here Derek which you have captured really well. Love the diagonal composition and the sky looks terrific.

I like the deep sky you got here.

Well handled image, a variation on a classic view, nice to see the Eildons and blue sky, not seen much this year....
Re the HDR, i normally use the auto bracket on the D3, (9 images, 1/3rd stop variation, that way you get a lot finer detail for Photomatix to work,Does the D700 have the same facility??? Only got to play at an NPS day for a few hours
Will try to post my last hdr image here, or its on another well known site, (epz)
tfs

Hi Derek,
This is a nice shot of the Eildons the colours being nice and sharp. You will have to go a long way to convince me that HDR does make the photo better. Well done and tfs.

Jon
