This is a shot taken at the recently held Duxford Autumn Air Show.
For nostalgia, i've converted the original colour shot into B&W.
Initially, i wanted to crop right into the pilot who was looking around to make sure the rest of the display team were in position ready for the take off, however, when i did so, it reduced the image to "Just a picture of a man sitting in an aeroplane". Reducing the crop now shows the subject with a little story. A young pilot sitting in a Spitfire ready for take off, perhaps on a scramble mission that was an every day affair of the forties at Duxford. The eliptical wing captures the spitfire trademark, and you can see the heat haze of the exhaust in fornt of the canopy.
The shot was difficult to capture because of the low light and long focal length. I used a x2 extender on my 70-200mm IS USM Canon and am pleased with the result. Other than the cropping and conversion to B&W, the shot is uploaded as taken |

Nice Spitfire shot. Agree with you on the B&W. Glad the wing tip on first plan is on focus.
Cheers,
Wellington
