hello Robert,
I like this close crop. The shadow oer Ewan's eyes somehow helps to illustrate the reflectiveness of his mood. However, a catchlight in his eyes is missing, which is a pity.Nice skin tones and a nice half smile.
I will assume Ewan his your grandson and include this in my group Grandmother's Club theme (to which grandfathers are honorary members.Let me know if I've made a mistake about that.

I like the closeness of the picture (good choice in the crop) and the intensity of the stare but I agree with Bev in that the eyes are a little dull and lifeless - a reflector could have added that fill in light, failing that some PP work?
Still a portrait I'd be more than happy with.
