[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have previously posted several shots of this semi-ruined castle on TE.

The castle, its grounds and the 1835 house built further up the hill are now in the care of the National Trust

This castle is surrounded by a large moat, and has been a favourite subject for many artists in the past – some of their pictures can be seen hanging on the walls of the house.

The castle and gardens show up extremely well on Google Earth. Click on Map: [View]

Taken as RAW: converted to JPEG with Raw Therapee [free software]. Final PP in PhotoShop 7 and FastStone.

Exposure: 1/600s. F4.5: ISO 200: 28mm focal length.

Hello Peter
Very good comp, and the blue reflection is well exposed. I think this place must change colour sometimes! As for the sky........

Hello, Peter.

I am sorry, but because of work and other commitments, I have had little time to comment on others' pictures or to post new ones of my own (or take any pictures, for that matter).

But this one is worth taking time out to make remarks upon. The composition is just perfect. The exposure is spot-on and it's as sharp as a pin. I love the peaceful reflections on the water too. The lovely round tower dominates the picture but the eye is drawn round to the right beyond it.

A lovely shot of a lovely place which has obviously impressed you. Perhaps you could offer your photograph to be hung in the house alongside those other artists' creations!

Kind Regards,

John.

Hi Peter,
Beautiful point of view and use of shadows and light play!
I like this composition, using the shades to the light to reveal subtly this old architecture in its bucolic environment. Excellent reflection of the blue sky in the pond. Charming image! Annie

Hello Peter,

I'm so glad that I browsed your shots otherwise, I would have missed this.
The light is so well used, defining the contours of the castle yet contrasting with a deep shadowy hedgerow.
It is sharply focussed and the reflections are are well captured, giving a sense of depth to the calm water.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Peter, I somehow missed this one!
This looks like a very interesting place to visit. It is ceratinly photogenic.
Good PoV, the wall on the l/h side gives us our bearings and also makes a good frame for the picture.
Lovely natural colours.
Sharpness is spot-on.
Tfs, best wishes Jean.
