For the Friday Theme, May 8th - "Trees".

I think that this is a Sweet Chestnut [Castanea sativa].

Although this tree now appears to be completely dead, it must be many centuries old. Its weirdly shaped branches have an attractive appearance, and cast very interesting shadows on the grass.

Hello Peter,

I love this!
Fabulous use of light and shadow!
The tree is perfectly placed in the frame with its gnarled, Medusa-like branches and twigs snaking out on an amazing, diagonal line across the frame.
Perfect sharpness and colours.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

nice framing composition sharpness too good

Peter
Les branches tordues de ce vénérable arbre sont du plus bel effet. Jolie participation au thème du vendredi.
Amicalement
JJ

Hi Peter,

A very unusual tree. Nicely presented off to the side, so that the gnarled branches can be shown well against the sky. Good colors and details. It's hard to imagine the stories that this tree could tell. TFS.

Regards,
John

Bonsoir Peter,

Nice contribution to the theme. This tree could be a star in "Lord of the ring" movie. Clear and sharp, well exposed, nice saturated colors. Good work and TFS.

Alain

Ciao Peter

I like the look of your tree!
Your branches remind me to head of Medusa!
A beautiful color, a beautiful visual
and excellent POV.
Greetings,

Sergio

hello Peter,
the tree from this POV looks quite monstrous, almost as if it is reaching out its twisted arms to grab me!The shadows compound this feeling.I am looking for a Rackhmanesque face but can't see one. Just as well though that there is a nice blue sky to counter balance the Monster!

Hello, Peter.

I don't know how I've managed to miss this one, but it's superb!

This tree and its gnarled and twisted braches look quite menacing, a feeling which is enhanced by the strong contrasts of light and shade as well as by the vibrant colours in the photograph.

And, much as though we often try to avoid or "clone out" obtrusive things like fences, the strong and regular "pace" of the fence and its posts from near right to far left draws the viewer strongly into the tentacles of that frightening monster.

As usual, wonderful colours, contrasts and amazing sharpness.

Excellent!

Kind Regards,

John.
