This is my grandson Owen. Likes to pose for the camera when he's in the mood for it. Bought him his first digital camera last Christmas - nice little Kodak pocket-sized compact - so now he's snapping away and chewing up the batteries.
This shot was taken in the garden, nice natural pose looking over his shoulder with a simple leafy backdrop and natural lighting - I think there was some cloud around so the sunlight wasn't too harsh.
The PP work was very basic.
1. Cropped the shot into a square format
2. Selected area around the eyes and increased sharpness using unsharpen mask in CS3
3. Using the burn tool I applied some burning to the leafy background to subdue a little
4. Increased the canvas size by around 10% and then added a drop shaddow for framing
5. Owen likes to see his name on paper so I thought I'd place his name on the print - he loves it..!
Hope you like it. |

Hello, Dai,
first off - I am a total sucker for redheads and freckles so I was immediately drawn to this shot. Very nice pose, great natural lighting and lovely color. AND I like a square format. It seemed, though, there could be a little better sharpness to the hair and tad more contrast with the face. I have done a WS. Hope I haven't overdone. Many thanks and kind regards,
Shelly
By the way? He's cute as a button... :)))
