Hello everyone, another trip back in time and still in the Cornish town of Saltash.
This cottage is known as Mary Newman's Cottage, who was reputed to be the first wife of Sir Francis Drake. The building dates back to around 1480.
If only the walls could talk,we might discover what really happened here.

The cottage is open three days a week from Easter until October for visitors. It now has a newly opened Elizabethan Herb garden which 'offers a peaceful, pleasant setting overlooking the River Tamar and Brunel's famous bridge.'

The cottage is situated on a steep hill so vantage points for taking shots were quite limited.
I thought that I would add the sepia effect to add some age....what do you think?
Thanks for looking.

PP:crop, applied sepia effect, cloned out a T.V. aerial, applied unsharp mask, added borders and resized.

hello Jean,
the slope of the hill provides a good low POV. I like the sepia as it is very fitting due the the ancientness of the fine old cottage. If walls could take indeed.
regards,
Bev

I love this one Jean, specially in sepia. Yes, nice pov.
I just came back from Stamford, a cosy village an hour from London. Cornwall is our next destination and also Wales i would love to visit. Thanks for given me an idea...

Hi Jean
The sepia toning is very effective here. I'm not sure it adds age per se but it works. I like how you captured the light part of the sky over the house itself and the whole image is sharp with fine texture in the walls. Hey what's wrong with an Elizabethan TV aerial? :))

Sepia was a great choice for this, and I agree that one wonders what those walls could tell us. Very good pov and crop. TFS

dear Jean,
a wonderful and very tasteful picture of the sepia building.
old houses show us the time of history, and this shows very English air so much too.
calm and beautiful feeling is made and it becomes the air surrounding the house.
thank you for your excellent shot,
Akihisa

Hi Jean,

Very impressive photo. Great idea to desaturate this image - creates a real sense of history and time past by. The sepia tool is awesome for these old buildings. Interesting notes too. TFS.
