| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Marie Tussaud was apprenticed to a famous wax modeller in Paris and went on to become the art teacher to Louis XVI's sister, Madam Elizabeth. During the Revolution, from whose horrors she narrowly escaped, she ended up making wax models of the murdered Royal Family. In 1802 she escaped to England and earned her living by displaying her models. From her travelling show grew the famous exhibition. |
