[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture was taken on my stairs in my house, my Dog, Babe, was coming down when she obviously heard something, her ears slightly shot up and she just sat there. I found this the perfect oppertunity to take a picture of her with her ears perked.

The top part of the ear I didn't manage to get into the shot but never the less it still came out pretty good.

I've adjusted the Levels and sharpened it 3 times.(for malopes, I went into Photoshop CS2, clicked Fliter, Sharpen, Sharpen).

The quality of this photo isn't great but it was the best I could get on the stairs.

Just to let everyone know, I am an ametuer photographer, still in my early learning days, but I hope to get better at taking good photographs.

Thanks to all those who post :)

Hi Russell,
you have come to the right page to learn here we all learn from each other.I am a total dog fanatic, can't find better 4 legged persons in the world, but pet and baby pictures here don't go over too well unless you really have THE shot of your dog. Start looking at all the photos people have up so you sort of get an idea of what really works. Don't worry we all went through this part of the process. and above all welcome to treklens. Babe is gorgeous and for that a big smile
Christine.

I like the picture of your little dog. The fur looks really soft, yet still shows lots of texture. The background moulding on the steps looks a little overexposed, but overall, it is a very nice image. You have inspired me to capture some images of my own fur-babbies. I'll work on that over the next few weeks. Welcome to TL. I hope you enjoy it!!

Welcome to TL! Cute dog you have there. As you know, it would be better to have the top of the ear but what can you do with live animals? LOL! Focus is just a touch soft but again, with a moving animal it is difficult.

TFS (thanks for sharing),

Alli

Exellent shot there Russell,

I particually like the way you have managed to capture the dog looking away, as though you're not there.

Keep em coming

Russell this is a cute shot of your pup. Perhaps the sharpness 3x was a bit much but all things considered nice. Looks like he was posing for you :)

Looking forward to seeing some more of your work.

Daniel

Hi Russell

Good graphism of the darker dog against the lighter bg. Well managed lighting, with no evidence of flash. I like the diffused lighting. Well done!

I think it's a decent shot considering the circumstances. You are in the right place to learn. Just keep on posting.

You've caught the moment of alertness very well here. I have a couple of suggestions, which I've shown in a workshop, cropping to change the balance of the composition (the focal point, her eye, is a bit too centred here), and a minor adjustment of brightness/contrast to bring out her colours more. I hope this will be useful!
