VALSE LENTE.

The slow waltz, gentle, easy gliding across the dance floor.

Every Monday afternoon there is a ‘dance’ meeting at one of the old halls.
The ladies and gents duly arrive on time to have a great time, all done up and ready for a good time.
The music begins soon after the greetings and laughter.
The dance floor fills up very quickly, I notice a lot of ladies partnering up, there are not enough men for all of them, a few sitting on the side, I smile, nothing ever changes, some guys remain shy forever or only know one dance….
It’s a great atmosphere; I talk to them, hear what this means to them, the joy, the banter and yes, sometimes love is in the air.
Again, nothing ever changes…
Then the music starts, a couple walk hand in hand to the middle, take the stance, their dance begins, nobody else, the rest just watch.

Valse Lente.

I really like the moment you've captured here. They are in full swing and he holds his head so well. Excellent.

superb capture in b&w Magda. It's nice to see those mature persons having fun. TFS

Magda
he really does makes the picture.. a great sense of movement, bent knee, a little flick of her dress, and very poised expression.. Love it
David

Hi Magda,

Excellent capture and well done on the composition. The b/w sets this one well, not only the seniors as is the age of the hall. This image looks as if it was back in time. Excellent work.

Mike

Elif

Hi Magda

A wonderful old time dance hall shot. Superb tonal range & dof. Would also look great in sepia. Well done!

Nice moment as well as movement in your picture. Caught it in the right time. Age def'ly hasnt had them on the back foot :) Very good B/W capture

I really like this image a lot. I like the look of it. The background and the lighter midtones. I really love the look on his face - so serious and graceful. I like the bent knee and the slight turn of her skirt - wonderful capture, just beautiful! You really set the mood with your note. Thanks!

Magda, you have such a talent for capturing people. I can't say it enough.

Good capture Magda - It immediately conjured images of the the 40's, the whole atmosphere in your composition is indicative of that era. To take that kind of shot in the present and clearly portary what was many decades ago is indeed a talent. Very nicely done. Sam

Aandoenlijke note, prachtig sfeertekenend. De foto is echt passend bij je note (of andersom); oudere mensen en liefde in de lucht; soms is het leven zo mooi.
(Ik kan deze gevoelsdingen maar nooit in het Engels kwijt; net als Prins Claus).
Dank je Magda
Huub

NIce shot. I actually ballroom dance and tried to get a few shots of it myself. Unfortunately there isn't as much light there to catch good shots of people and I hate using flash on people as they go waltzing by. Very nice shot though, very nice framing and you really caught the gracefulness of the waltz.

Very beautiful & touching picture of this couple dancing so delicately, Magda. You have captured their feet at just the right moment to give us a sense of the mouvement of the dance. The B&W works really nicely here. Excellent!

Great documentary shot. Looking forward to seeing more in this series.
Steve

Very well done Magda. I love the moment captured here, and the b/w rendition, makes me think of photos of masters I've seen maybe like in Life's Photography, the encyclopedia which I have and consult often.

Take care, Yan :)

Very well captured shot - the 'form' of the couple is spot on :)

beautifully done, but I feel sorry for the wallflowers! (It isn't fun to sit and watch!) Great POV, so much to look at, the expression, the grace of movement. Well done!
Fran
