Sean, I think this is a good compo. As you said, the vertical format suits this shot fine. I also like the absolutely blurred background.
But... this would have looked so much better if the subject would have been in focus. Ok, I know, there probably was some wind and you used full tele. What I do is: take a couple of shots... we're shooting digital, right ? One of them is bound to be ok. If not, simply erase them. Just my opinion, of course ;o)

Beautiful,simple composition and colors. The blurred background and the out-of-focus subject make the picture particularly effective: you can look at it more than once without loosing interest, using your imagination to figure out the missing details.

Hello Sean, I agree with you, horizontally it's beautiful even though I didn't see it the other way.

Very good compo and choice of dof. It brings the focus on the twig against these great colours of the sunset. Lovely and simple. Very effective.

I am amzed how you managed to make such an interesting shot out just one tiny little staw
with a soft foucus with alens of this size. I have the same lens and I know how hard it is to make shots with it.Great shots like this.
