i'm very lucky living where i do at the top of the wirral, i have two river estuaries and a sandy coastline within easy reach of my house, the north of the wirral being one of the best areas in the uk for watching wading birds.
this particular shot was taken at the top of new brighton promenade which is about 15 mins walk from my house. this was taken looking over the sea wall down to the beach as the high tide was retreating.
a flock of these sandpipers shelter from the high tide on rocks at the end of the sea wall, then fly back down to the sand to start feeding as the tide goes out, i waited and as each bird flew across below me fired off as many shots as i could get.
i know the DOF could be better here, i was shooting in late afternoon with cloudy skies so i had the aperture wide open to increase shutter speed, and iso set to 400. slight crop, frame, resize, no other pp. |
