At the approach of the closing Day of the Olympic Games, I propose you an Italian souvenir!

This is not a rock band 33rpm Vinyl cover (Lol!).
Back in 1979. We are at the look out of the basilica dedicated to Saint Maria of Portonovo.
We (?) . Yes I am there with my friends Claude, Sylvain and Paul. We climbed up the hill to have a view of the port.

These three gentlemen and François ( not seen here ) joined me and my friend Dominique on board the MV Caron PE on January 23, 1979 when we arrived in La Pallice, France.

We were extremely happy. We were the only two canadians working on board. Suddenly we were six! You do not see Dominique and François on this photo.

The weather was not very nice during our stay. It rained almost every day. This port call was unexpected but welcomed. Leaving the port of Ravenna in Italy, in ballast condition, after discharging our load of grain loaded at La Pallice, we had a collision with a small coastal vessel. I was in fact on the forecastle of the ship standing by next to the windlass when the accident happened. More details on another shot.

But we ended up here in Ancona to do the repairs. We spent nine days in port. We had a great time. Most of the time we were docked at the ferry terminal. I went almost daily to the restaurant enjoying pastas and pizzas !

When I look at this picture, I makes me remember the movie. Animal House. Why ? Because of what today these guys become.
From Left to right:
Claude is now responsible for the whole fleet personnel of the CSL Group
Me - No presentation required I guess. Except that I had hair then....
Sylvain - Unfortunately , I do not know where he is now.
Paul is chief engineer on board a CSL ship.

Technically.
This image was scanned from a standard 3.5 x 5 inches mate print.
I cropped it a bit. Corrected quite a few marks and dots. I applied a blue filter instead of a B&W. Filtered with Neat Image . Added frame and title with Photofiltre.

Enjoy the last two days of the Games.

Hello Robert,

Great blast from the past!!! It's a great photograph and I really like the canvas effect. WOW, look at the belt buckle... hope you didn't hurt yourself with that when you bent over, LOL!!! Don't worry, I had one too! ;o) Great notes and it's nice to hear that you know where most of these guys are. Thanks for the view into your past Robert. January 23, 1979 I was having my 15th birthday. Thanks again Robert and enjoy the final days of the games!

Love and Peace always!
Kevin

Robert,
I can't belive your notes because as I looked at it before I read your "this is not a rock band cover" statement I could have swore it was Led Zepplin. :) I agree with Brett,
great blast from the past. I think the blue filter made it look great. Dang, you had a lot of hair!
Rock on, glad 3 of you made it successful with good jobs on the ship.

Wow ! Un super trip dans le passé, merci.

Hi Rob,
I too thought it was the "lost" album of Led Zeppelin! Amazing! Upon closer inspection, we recognized you straight away. I have to admit, that belt buckle is super! Great idea to make the photo monochromatic as it gives it a 70's look.
Well done & TFS your past with us :)
Constantinos

ps. Helen thinks you look sweeter now... :))

LOL, Robert with even more hair than I could have imagined! Looks like the cover of a Boston album, LOL! Quite a story there. I really enjoyed this pic from the archives.
