The Rose
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I shot this rose in the Botanic Gardens, in Glasnevin, on the north side of Dublin. I used a 80-200 lens zoomed close to 200mm and a wide aperture to isolate the rose in a shallow depth of field.
PP: Scanned from a small print (6" x 4"), adjusted levels, sharpened with unsharp mask, framed.

ps: if you ever visit Dublin, I strongly recommend a visit to the Botanic Gardens at any time of year. There are many indoor collections, including full sized trees in the historic glass houses. |

Hi Tim, beautiful colours! It looks so sunny and peaceful, it is done really perfectly...you make me wish for spring (still not here in SLovakia)...
Hi Tim,
for me it's the masterpiece! Looks like it's reverse use of composition rules which gave wonderful result. Eyecatchers (heavily blurred, tad overexposed) disallow me to notice the centered (argh...) rose, with delicate, subtle light. I travel around the whole frame to finally discover the central jewel. And this is power of this photo - something which is seemingly visible immediately, is well hidden on this picture. A fav!
