Names
The English word lily is derived from a Proto-Indo-European language root, probably meaning white, though this is disputed.
The botanic name Lilium is the Latin form and is a Linnaean name.
The term "lily" (generally with a modifier, such as "water lily", "daylily", "arum lily" or "blackberry lily") is also applied to a large number of other plants, which may resemble it to a greater or lesser extent. Most of them are quite unrelated to the true lilies.
Term "ljiljan" in Bosnian means lilly, and is often used with adjective "zlatni" which means golden, so in Bosnia it is mainly reffered as "zlatni ljiljan" (golden lilly) becuase of somewhat golden color of unique Lilium bosniacum. It was important part in history as symbol of medieval Bosnian state, and also as modern simbol of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegowina (until 1998).

Hello Elzieta.
Wonderful bloom with stunning lighting, makes the colours so much more interesting. Shame, it looks like the middle stem has snapped off.
Love the shot, well done.
