My first serious attempt at landscape, prior to this it's been nothing more than snapshots really. This is a stitch of two photos taken on Friday evening at Bamburgh, Northumberland. A very popular spot for photographers, especially from this POV. As this is my first serious attempt any and all advice is more than welcome :-)

I used a ND 1 stop filter and a ND Grad to darken the sky. Lens was actually my Nikkor 12-24mm f/4 but I haven't added it to my profile yet.

Bamburgh Castle is probably the finest castle in England. It is perched on a basalt outcrop on the very edge of the North Sea at Bamburgh, Northumberland. It commands stunning views of the Farne Islands, Holy Island and land' ward to the Cheviot hills.

The castle has been extensively restored, first by Lord Crewe in the 1750's and more recently by the first Lord Armstrong at the end of the 19th century. The castle continues to be the home of the Armstrong family.

You've stitched this one very effectively, and I think the composition is nicely balanced, the focal point (the castle) following the rule of thirds. The dark clouds give it a dramatic mood, balanced by the lighter reflections. Nice photo!

Hi Adrian,

wow, amazing panorama!!! Thy sky is perfect, I love this, such a dark atmosphere...well done!

Take care, Ivana

Good work for a 1st landscape. The darkened sky adds drama to the picture (but is not refected in the water).

Very very nice Adrian !
Especially as you have stitched your two images together perfectly !
Well done

wow, first landscape-shot, really, adrian?!
this is really great, perfectly stitched,
a superb dramatic sky with dark clouds,
a terrific depth - the beach seems endless,
and the "required" 1/3 - 2/3-composition.
i donīt know if it really is necessary, but the castle could be just a bit lighter.
well done & take care, thor.

A wonderful shot, Adrian. The dramatic sky and POV as well as the colours are phantastic.
Somehow it reminds me at the opening scene of Roman Polanskis " Macbeth " where the three witches make theit weird plan.

Heinz

Great landscape photo!!!

Hi Adrian
I dont think you have to worry about your creativity with shots like this one and your previous one.
Excellent use of colour, your sky looks forboding especially with the castle in the photo.
beautiful,

Hi Adrian, good shot here of the castle and beach. The sky looks so dramatic over the water. I feel the horizon is tilted to the left a tad - that is something you much double-check on seascapes. I live by the sea and I always have to even my photos up.
But otherwise, I think you have posted an excellent seascape here. Very well done,
Janice

What dramatic photo! The sky - has unusually well turned out! And it so contrasts with quiet water.
Very much it was pleasant to me.:)

Hi Adrian,
Cracking landscape. The grads have really added mood to the image. Nice crop. What type of ND's are you using looks like nice neutral colour out of them.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Adain,
Thanks for the link. You posted this one when I was on vacation and TL is so large that photos get lost really fast. The composition is jsut perfect with great balance in sky and earth. I just love the reflection of the sky on the wet beach. Great stitch and excellent exposure. The LP has so many great details,

Hi Adrian,
I really like this unique landscape composition. Exposure looks great. Colors and detail are excellent with the spot on exposure. Amazing sense of depth and distance. The dramatic clouds add alot to the shot.
I have not been here much lately, but more and more TN members showing up. Now you can post some stuff from Dallas! Anything goes here! Lets see that creative streak!
