This is another shot taken on my short recent European holiday. I stayed with family in the Netherlands, more specifically in the beautiful historical town of Delft.

Delft is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland (Zuid-Holland),in the Netherlands, located halfway between Rotterdam and The Hague. It is primarily known for its typical Dutch centre (with many canals), Delft Blue pottery(Delftware), the Delft University of Technology(TU Delft) and its association with the Royal Family.

I walked on so many narrow streets, lined with cafes and canals, but this specific view really caught my eye. It is always difficult for me to decide what to include and leave out in "busy" pics such as this, but I think it looks OK.

What do you all think?

wonderful shot! it's a really good idea to include three dimensions of the place. i love the composition, TFS ,
sezer :)

Hi Niel

I really like this shot as it gives a real feel for the place and indeed the country. You could have left out where it was and asked people were they thought it was and 9 out of 10 would have guessed Holland.

The buildings look really nice and I like the reflections and the trees lining the canal. The bicycles in the left forefront add interest and give the location away too.

I'd love to cycle about everywhere as a lot of the Dutch do - too many hills in Scotland though. :-)

I've never been to Holland - I'll have to go!

Know what you mean about busy pics Niel but I feel this one works really well and its a really good shot. Ideally, I'd have liked a little cloud in the sky.

Your POV couldn't have been any better and its sharp and clear. I particulary like the colour of the 2nd building on the right.

Well done and thanks for sharing.

Sandy

Hello Niel.
Beautifull and great shot. The lines are very good and the reflection at the wather are nice.
Your shot has a nice composition.

Muy buena foto, me encanta el lugar.
Bien por las líneas de perfectiva y los reflejos en el agua.
Buen trabajo.
Felicitaciones Niel.
Saludos.

Hi Niel

Very good perspective in this shot. The canal leads the eye through the shot and the vertical composition emphasises the height of the buildings. Nicely done

Niel,
Typical view of the Netherlands. I like a lot this small city like amsterdam but smaller. I spent hours and hours walking around. I was very enjoyable.
Nice perspective vertically and horizontally also. Well done.
TFS.

Hi Niel,
I think it looks OK, the composition and perspective are very good.
The exposure is also very good, there is plenty of detail in the shadows.
I think the bicycles actually add to a shot such as this. Well done.
Regards, Roger.

Hi Niel,

Mooi kanaal Neil. Jammer dit was nou nie vroeg oggend met pragtige warm oranje sonlig wat daarop geval het nie, maar wat kan mens nou doen.

Hi Niel,
If you have to visit family, then it's not a bad thing to be in Delft - it's quite a beautiful town.
Strange - you visited my picture on top of Table Mountain and I enjoy your picture made in Delft!
Well on holiday one has more time to spend on photography I suppose.
I think you made a perfect choise on what to include here.

Hi Niel ,
I think I remember this canal in Delft (Delft is beautiful and very pretty town). Nice shot with good natural colors, fine reflection, good perspective and lovely clear sky.

Best Regards,

Technically this is a beauty, Niel. Very little perspective distortion, except maybe a little bit on the left hand side. But it's absolutely not disturbing. Colours are great, as usual in spring. I hope to visit Delft myself in a couple of weeks.

Hi Niel,
great perspective lines - good lead-in one with the bannisters on the left.
Well done. Best regards, Daniel
