For the Friday theme, this is a view from a bridge over the river Calder, looking down i saw two Grey Wagtails(Motacilla cinerea). My usual problems then started, not close enough, birds too flighty. Frustrating trying to photograph birds huh.

Found this info on www.rspb.org.uk

"The grey wagtail is more colourful than its name suggests with slate grey upper parts and distinctive lemon yellow under-tail. Its tail is noticeably longer than those of pied and yellow wagtails. Likes fast flowing rivers in summer their greatest densities are in the hills of England, Scotland and Wales"

All comments/critiques very welcome, Regards c.d.

Hi C
Well spotted. I find birds are notoriously sneaky, and
will pose long enough to focus, then leg it just before
you release the shutter lol
Great to see him with a beak full of grub

Cheers
G

nicely composed shot Cameron well done

Hello C.D.

This won't have been an easy shot to takebut you have some good details and it is nicely composed.

What a mouthful the wagtail is carrying. Probably had a second brood of nestlings!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Cameron,I think that you did extremely well in capturing this busy little bird on camera.I love to see them bobbing about near the water.
All the details are clear, even the insects in its beak.I like the composition with the wet pebbles, a good contrast to the bird.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello Cameron

An effective shot here with an unusual angle on this little bird. Good DOF and colour with interesting notes too.

TFS and for joining in the theme

Kind regards Helen

hi Cameron
I think you did well also - and its perfect for the theme!
I have not been able to get an in-focus shot of these guys yet...nice to see what he is having for tea tho!
nice composition - like how the bird is off to the left..the water looks quite clear.
Cheers
Linzi

Hi Cameron,

Yes, it's not easy to capture bird . . but I learn from friends here at TL, that I bought long telelens for this purpose . .
But you did great capturing this bird from above . .
What focal length you are using for this shot?

Tfs,
Tjutjut

:-)) will be back to you.
