This is actually a piece from my archives, even though it was taken in Corfe Castle like my submission for the “Natural Framing” theme. And it was my alternate for the same theme.
This was taken last year on my first visit to Corfe Castle, on a day that started off very wet – which makes it typically English, I guess :). The clouds lifted as we were walking back to the car park and I spotted this scene through the portal between two houses. Since I have always loved shooting through doors and windows, it was a natural for me

Ahh, I just LOVE those blue flowers! My favorite of course! The iron gate is such a nice frame for those flowers! Nice work on this Silke! Love the off center gate! B-)

Hi Silke,
You can look but you can't come in.
Nice shot with a good POV leading to the gate and beyond, I like the darkness on your side of the fence and the bright colours on the other.
Well done
Regards Andy

Hi Silke,
This photo is a good example of managment of light!
The gate is just at right place in the composition!
The subtle touches of colors are so appealing!
Bravo! Annie

Hello Silke,

This is a perfect viewpoint.
You have us in your hands; how can we resist the beckoning view, through the dark tunnel and behind the closed gate!
Lovely details of the stonework and the cheery blue flowers.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Very attractive scene Silke. And I like the natural framing too.
We spent 9 weeks in UK, Ireland, Italy and France in July-Sept 1999. We had one wet 1/2 day in France and the day we left London to fly home it rained all day - that was all the rain we had. . . Then we had a 5 sunny days in Hawaii.

I like this one a lot. Great job working the highly contrasted lighting and still keeping the details alive on both halves of the photo.
Nicely composed and presented too.
Great feeling of discovery as well.
Good work.

Wilt

HI Silke,

The flowers are gorgeous! Blue flowers are my favorites. Very peaceful looking. The contrast of the frilly flowers and greenery against the cold stone walls and iron gate is nice. I have a feeling of wanting to get out of the darkness into the bright sunlight.

Neat shot. Lisa

Well captured this light streaming in Silke.
I love the gradual transition of dark to light on the wall.
Great mood, excellent POV.
Well done.
- Vincent

Love the darker textures in the shadows Silke which are still quite visible in the gloom. A lovely window to the light beyond and the colours very natural looking. A well composed image,
David

Bonjour Silke
C'est très bien vu,de l'ombre vers la lumière sans tomber dans le piège de l'exposition.
Bonne journée
Amicalement
Gildas

Silke Hi:
This is a beautiful view and natural framing of a hidden garden. The POV has very good detail in the framing and burst into wonderful light filled with color.
