Having a room with a view like this, looking out over the harbour of the little village Oudeschild, has a very special meaning for me.
My grandfather started camping on the island in the early 1930's. He let a transport company ship the very heavy cotton-canvas tent with solid wooden poles and copper tips (yes - one you should stick a potatoe on to stop lightning from striking...) and all the equipment, to the island. There it was all delivered in the dunes that separated the village Den Koog from the North Sea. Then he took the train with his family and the steamship that brought him , his wife, two daughters and a son (my dad) to this harbour.
This way Texel became an important part of our lives as well, I must have visited the island at least 50 times and it never gets boring. Ask my grandsons where they want to go and the answer is Texel.
So here we are in a converted attic of an old warehouse and the owner is explaining how and where, but I let Ad handle that, I was way too busy taking a picture....
.
I know the boy in the boat is a bit OE, but I decided to not do PP work on that.

Hope you have a lovely week,
thanks for having a look,

Els

Hello Els! Wonderful POV. Amazing perspective. Good light and colors. Original shot. Well done!

hello Els

Very lovely place with the boats and water reflection. Must be a lot of freedom for kids to grow up here and a happy childhood.

Very interesting to see that your focus point is on the boat behind although the man in FG is a little blur.

tfs, bill

Hallo Els.
Das een flinke oude schuit. Leuk plaatje.

Good hoor!

groetjes, Marga

With my bleery morning eyes I thought the title was TEXAS ~ the Old Harbour! HAHA...very nice, love the colors in this Els! What a view! Would love to see more of that old ship! The reflections on the water are really nice!
B-)
Linda

Water en bootjes blijven geweldig he??

Lovely story and lovely photo. The rich orange horizontal line creates a strong anchor for the reflection on the water.

Brilliant image Els !
sharp and very clear - as always. I like the surface texture and colour of the water :-)
Well done.

Hello Els

What a lovely POV here, the little boat looks lost against the larger one in the BG gives a wonderful feeling of freedom and lovely contrast too.

Nice sharp detail and good natural colours, set off with very nive framing.

TFS kind regards Helen

Nice notes Els, I will have to wait until I take a trip to Western Australia before I capture any of my childhood. Good colour and well composed. Any OE is forgiven just for the mix of light and colour,
David

ciao Els..
colours are so warm.. and they give a nice mood also by this unquiet reflection on the water!! there is a nice intensity in the scene you have taken! thanks
ciao Marco

Hello Els,
you have caught a lovely warm light here and nice colours. The boy in the boat is perfectly placed for a blanced composition.
I liked your note too as our family has a special place that we go back to. During the 1950s my husband's father took his young family camping at a farm in Chesire for the summer each year. They had old and heavy ex army camping gear that was delivered to the site by a removal van. My husband and his siblings ran wild all summer. We spent our honeymoon there and our boys together with their cousins were taken camping there.
Bev

Good choice to leave it as is (OE the boy in the boat) - it shows the reality of the brightness of the day (also evident in the bg) - If you tried burning it, it just would turn grey, certainly not a painters choice color (something we critique in the studio as 'muddy').
Cheers
Otto

Truly is a postcard view, very nice and warm feelings from this.
The ripples and reflections on the water caused by the little zodiac going by really create a wonderful sense of peacefulness here.
The light on the little boat is fine, it mirrors the view out the window and the time of day, such is life. ;0)
Nice work,

Very interesting coastal image seen in brilliant late day light.
Love the riffling blue water and gentle reflections in the calm harbor.
The blue and red colors contrast beautifully.

Hello Els. I like the camera tilt in capturing the harbor from high angle. Well lit with the small boat in the frame. Good sharp focus capturing the reflection in pleasing framing. Best regards. Jusni
