...for people that are willing to pay for a trip through the city in a vintage coach.

Ann and I had been solving a questionnaire that took us through the oldest part of Antwerp. When we came back we just had to have a beer at one of the pavement cafes on Antwerp's Grote Markt.

Ever since I met David (lanbowen) I got into taking street shots of people. I was just lucky that the coach driver was adjusting his bowler hat when I pressed the shutter button.

A colour version is presented in the ws section, and so is a view of the coach with the hood up (weather has been rather unstable lately).

Tech talk

Slight crop.

Converted from raw to b&w using Canon's Raw Image Task. Slight tweak in contrast.

Added 3,5% of noise to enhance the vintage look a bit.

Downsized and framed using some home cooked PS actions.

Hi Frank,I like the plushness of the velvet in your colour
image but I do prefer the mood of your B&W image.Strong composition,I like your DOF there are no distractions from your main subject, due to it.

Hi Frank,
Very interesting shot and creation. Has an old Charle Chaplin movie feel to it, that old BW film sense.
I like this a lot, and whether luck or planning, the hand on the bowler is very cool and adds so much to the shot. (in your case, I doubt it's just "luck". ;-) )
Good work here, this is a great image.

Sweet drive...

Hello Frank,

A very interesting expression you captured here, the entire photo is very attractive, looks like a scene from an old movie. Very good PP. Congratulations!

Like we are in another era here Frank.

It is indeed lovely to take shot while wandering through the streets of a city - there are always special caracters to be seen - like here - hope he did not have to wait too long.
Good idea to convert to B&W to enhance the mood.

Excellent timing and perfect in b&w! This is great, I love it! TFS and have a good day!

>:-)

Groetjes
Jan

Hallo Frank

This one stands out in mood
A good classic shot, school example of the fact that sometimes a B-W photo works better compared
to color

Either of the B&W images would have been suitable Frank. Like you I am a 'colour person' with the occasional venture into the 'darker' side. A lucky capture with him adjusting his hat, a good crop and the addition of the noise does indeed add to the timelessness. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comments on ‘5 minutes from home’ and ‘Autumn Fog II’. The morning of the hillside shot was, from memory, a minimum of -1C, not overly chilly.
