Just a casual snap of Hannah taken in my in-laws garden in Edinburgh. Hannah and Jessica adopted a couple of cats belonging to a neighbour - father-in-law wasn't too pleased to have a pair of cats rummaging about in his rose beds but sadly I only had a camera to shoot them with ;-)

I really don't like cats. When we moved out to Singapore my mate was attacked by his cat - it scratched his eyeball resulting in an emergency visit to A&E where his eye was injected and stitched while he was fully conscious. It's an absolute horror story and adds to my dislike of these foul, evil beasts.

Anyway, that aside, Hannah and Jessica quite liked their temporary pets.

Hannah chose her clothes on this day. She likes pink.

ISO 200, f4, 1/500 shot on aperture priority.

Hello Richard.
Quality of this photo is perfect. Well focused on Hannah's face. I also like your low POV and off-center composition.
Pink contrasting well with the green plants.

Hi Richard

I am learning from going through your gallery, thanks to your useful notes.

This photo, ah - Hannah is so sweet - and so camera friendly :-) A pleasure to capture! IMO, the cat does add interest to the picture.

Oh Richard! What photography growth! To add a CAT in your pics! Just the best! (he he)... but the star who steals the show is Hannah Banana who keeps growing??? what's up with that??? What a great shot, love the clarity here, and DOF? my goodness.... what is DOF?..(inside joke)... most cats are pretty friendly, unless they are feral...then watch out! Nice work on this Richard!
B-)
Linda

sharpness is great here....but Hannah's eyes captured in great clarity really make her look lovelier in her pink clothes.

a fine portrait, Richard.

Richard, your note made me laugh because I feel the same way as you about cats. Can't explain my disdain ... part of it for me has to be those claws!!
About the photo ... love the contrasting colors - the bright clothes that Hannah chose against the vibrant green, and the background blur definitely makes your eye go dirctly to her ... and she's a little beauty!
Trudy

I'm not a cat lover either :( but it is a nice bonus to this picture. FANTASTIC focus on Hannah, once again your girls have the most beautiful eyes! WOW!! Very nice expression and pose, and very pretty in pink. Have a great day!

Hi Richard,
A very beautiful picture of your daughter. Excellent detail and colors, nice shallow DOF (just enough) and as always great focus right her. This is one for a frame. Great work Richard.
Best Regards,
Kevin

Hi Richard,
What a lovely picture is this!
Hannah is a wonderful and sweet model.
I like the natural colours and the composition.
You must be very proud, just like me.....
I have two graddaughters: Annabel (4 years) and Rosalie (8 months).

TFS and greetings from Netherland,
Adri

Beautiful portrait Richard. Hannah did a good job selecting her cloths to compliment her skin tones and hair. Perfect clarity and wonderful eyes.

Dan

Hi Richard,

Super clarity and colours in this image and your beautiful little girl is a perfect model.

Douglas

Well, it's ok really because this shot isn't about cats, it's about Hannah. Very nice too, I can't fault it ... subject, focus, composition, DOF, everything is spot-on.

hi richard.
wash your mouth out with soap and water. a camera is the only way to shoot cats. i dare not let mrs.Trampas read this or she would fly out to singapore.

anyway, about the picture.
the clarity and the skin tones and textures are spot on. excellent composition and dof.
little hannah is a natural model.
nice one again.
Brian

Just beautiful. Sharp in a nice background.

Best regards Ben

Hi K-A,

She is absolutely adorable. You can see that she is very proud of her new found friend. The background is so nice with all of the greenery and flowers. Your inlaws seem to have terrific weather to have such a lovely garden. Little Hannah has grown like a weed since I've been on TL. Keep snapping... they grow too fast. Lisa

hello Richard,

another beautiful shot of your lovely daughter so sweet looking.. she is just natural in front of the camera :) and or nice garden of your in law for Hannah to sit and play with the cat.. beautiful shot as always.. tfs..

regards, terry

Hello again,

Catching up, browsing back in your gallery. Reading your note, I understgand your aversion against cats. But, like humans, not all cats are bad (^_^). Although, cats do have basic instincts, and they use those daily not only playing . but hunting ( and mating .... ).

OK , lets talk about the subject of your photo, your lovely wee girl Hannah . Being on TL, for a few years already , it is really cool to see them growing ''on line''. They are very photogenic and I must say, you have a great talent to build up a great family album.

Here it is funny , as the cat really did not seem to care about her , while Hannah , seemed to ask you or her mother ( which could have been to your right ) whether she should go after him .

Keep on the good work. (^_^)

PS. I had a similar experience with my oldest son many years ago, while he and his younger brother were playing with the neighbor's dog. They had fun for about twenty minutes , when suddenly , he bited him in the face , above and below his left eye. Rushed to the hospital, and like you, he needed stiches in the face. He was then eight years old..... I still remember his eyes imploring me for help ,when the doctor did what he had to do. I tried to help as much as I could talking to him , while he was basically crying out loud. Sad souvenirs. Never really had the answer why the dog reacted that way. Obviously my sons could not tell me an explanation either.

Have a great weekend !
Robert
