Do those tiny wings lift this huge bee and allow him to fly so easily?

Absolutely amazing isn't it?

Not the best quality shot as the exposure was very difficult to handle, the bee was flying really fast and being a dark insect against the light sky I struggled. I do think however this shot emphasises his size and weight, he was just taking off here.

Now I must be a busy bee lots of work to do this morning.

TTFN Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Regards Smurfie

AAAGHHH I jsut looked at the image in the gallery and I am not at all happy with the quality. I used photo.net to process this as I dont have my usual software at work. made a right hash of it. I Am not going to delete it now but I will re do it at home and add the new version to workshop tonight. I think you can still get the idea here of his size and the enormity of the task his little wings have to cope with.

PLEASE see workshop now uploaded for much improved image uploaded this evening with the help of my beloved Photofiltre that was sadly not available at time of processing this morning, detailed notes included I hope its of use to you :-)

Hi Helen,
A good try at capturing this bee in flight.
Its not easy, something I have yet to master myself in fact.
Keep at it won't you. I'm sure its most rewarding once you get the knack.
Can't give you too many tips as I'm not sure myself yet :)
Look forward to more, and seeing your progress at this type of shot.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Helen,

Not easy to capture bee flying . . but you did well capturing it . .
Whole flower are presented here . .
Somehow there is noise on this image . . but I like the the way you compose it . .

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Morning Helen,

This one is a fine candidate for a WS, all the details are there on the bee, it only takes some light. So work on a copy, use light or gamma correction and then clone back the bee and voilá, you got the perfect combination.
I think I could have run it through Neat Image as well.
The idea I got however.

You're right Helen - it's not the best. And you can see those who have read your notes, and others who just praise you. . . Oh well!

But we can see the heavy Bumble Bee - it looks like he is just starting his day - he has no pollen stuck to his legs yet.

I'm not sure how well you can fix it all - quite a bit is oof and noisy as well.

It's not easy to get a bee in flight - I know. And they usually refuse tyo look at me when I have the camera. . .

Cheers
Janice

It s a good question....
and I like the not so perfect sharpness
good effect
and work

Have a joyfull week

Hi Helen

Superb contrast & graphism, & top marks for getting away from the more common & static view, of the bug / butterfly, atop the flower. Good dof & sharpness with a vibrant yellow flower. Tfs!

Well Helen, sometimes the message rules, as i think it does here. Sure there are things that could be better but the message comes through and it's a damn good capture of a damn tough subject. I ike the slight blur on the fast moving wings and really how heavy the bee does look under them.
Good shot, thanks for sharing, waiting to see what the re-post looks like. ;)
TFS,
Wilt

nice capture
good sharpness
well done

Bonjour Helen,
Jolie capture!!!
Odile

Helen Hi:
I do get the idea and nature never ends amazing me. It is just amazing to observe our areas of the world and the power nature has within our environment.
Congratulatiions, nicely done and I will look back at your WS, because your efforts to do things correct are just amazing, my friend.

As a former bee-keeper (we had hives at school) I have a BIG soft spot for these little guys. You've caught the bee so well - just hovering / coming in to land. The colours are very true but the contrast, to me, looks a little high. However, excellent composition / framing with the flower fanning out from bottom left. A really pleasing and interesting image. Paul.

realy nice colourfull shot Helen tfs

Olá Helen!

I understand you didn´t like the image quality, i tried to take the same kind of pic you did with a bee and it didn´t work out. But i love the details, looks like it has water drops in its legs :)

congratulations.
best regards.
Marco
