St Martin de Ré is the principal village of the Île de Ré at the French Atlantic coast. The extensive fortification was built in early 17th century and later extended by Vauban. In former times from thsi place convicts were shipped to the Bagno to Guyana and New-Caledonia. During low tide the port is completely dry. Today Saint Martin is a idylic holidays place with about 2700 inhabitants. There is a sport boat port in the middle of the city around the hotels, many restaurants and bistrots invite to stay.

Hi Achim,
I like all of the golden tones you have in your photo. It makes it look like an old photo in a way. Having such coloring, there are no distractions in the photo and the eyes move throughout the scene. Nice angle of the buildings forming a nice diagonal line on the composition. Looks like a nice place to visit. :) Lisa
