Tennyson and Karen at a one day event at Tyrella, early spring in Northern Ireland. The sun was shining and it was a good day.

On one day events, the horse and rider must do dressage, showjumping and cross country in one day.
Tennyson is one of my favourite charges. He has so much presence and just knows he is 'the man'.
He is named Tennyson, after a famous Irish poet. The poet was a bit of a rascal and so is Tennyson. He has blossomed into his own and absolutely loves cross country. Ears pricked and ready to go.

My camera is a point and shoot, so definate limitations with action shots. I am wondering if I should have cloned out the spectator.

Hi Joni
What a nice capture and action
Timing, colors and clarity are excellent
Have a nice days
Burak

Nice timing Joni - the Lumix handles the speed well. Good choice of portrait format for this..

Just a little OE on parts of the girl's clothing and I would definitely clone out the spectator's face in the BG.

Hi Joni: You fond of horses leads to this great shot. Very timely and well timed just making the clearance in this fence. Great framing and very well done. Best regards and hope you are doing really well. Jusni

Hi Joni,
Well timed and composed shot. Clear details and saturated colors

Hello Joni,

I think your camera has coped with this action shot remarkably well! The shot is sharply focussed and the details faithfully reproduced.
Your shot is well composed.

You see how artists disagree!
I don't think you should clone out the spectator.
She is oof so she doesn't compete with the main images, her hat continues the colour theme and her position draws the gaze naturally into the b/g, completing the context.

Great t see you posting again!

Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Joni,
I think you did good with your camera. I would not have cloned out the spectator, but on the otherhand it could be a good idea. I am actually more critical about the lower part of the photo. I would like to see some more room in the bottom. It is now hard to imagine where the horse will come down. It now looks as if the horse will come down outside the frame. I hope you understand what I mean.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Joni,
A great action shot well presented and composed,
good colors and light.
nice details and Excellent done
Have a good Week end..

Hi Joni,
Awesome timing! I think you've done a great job to freeze the action considering you are using a point and shoot. Almost makes me feel bad for spending thousands on a DSLR, haha. The exposure and sharpness looks perfect. The only thing I'd do differently is leave a small amount of room on the left for the horse and rider to 'move into'. Apart from that I think this is excellent. Well done.

TFS,
Scott.

Hello Joni,
Quite an impressive action shot from a p&s cam. Except for a suggestion to provide just a teensy amount of space (perhaps to the right), this is a well composed shot with good technical setting. A posting one should be proud of. I would not clone the spectator as he/she provides added element. Wishing you a good w/e.

Hi Joni

Nicely captured moment, you have caught the action well.
I agree with the others about a little more space.

Great timing! A split-second before touchdown! Good use of the FZ with its sharp lens, DOF is good here too, and well controlled.
