[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My first day in Copenhagen...I was dying to take a portrait shot. It was not that easy in Scandinavia (I found out later, thus most of my shots in my recent hoilday were of landscape and seascape and cityscape and other scapes).

As we were walking along the pedestrian mall, there was this group of young musicians attracting a fair number of crowds. They were all men but one. There was this beautiful girl who later on danced along with the drums and cymbals in what looked like a gypsy movement. After she danced, she retreated to the rear of the group. I aimed my 70-200 lens and took this one and only shot of her.

In the workshop version you will see a less post-processed version. She blended well with her background. I would appreciate it very much if you tell me which one is a better version as I need to have one printed.

Here, I experimented with the channel mixer. I forgot the combination hat I used. I know I did monochrome, slid the contrast and adjusted the opacity of the top layer to achieve this rather moody feel.

She was the band's muse and mine as well (only for this trip....my real muse will get angry at me if I will replace her).

Guys, help me out with the STATE column. I will take a guess and will correct it once I get the right info from anyone.

Hi Manuel

Another superb portrait to add to your evergrowing, impressive catalogue. Superb color sharpness & dof. Well done!

The composition is really excellent, but in my opinion I would reduce the overexposition, definitely your opinion would be opposite...

Hi Manuel,

There is nothing wrong with your processed version. It all depends on how you want to use the image and what message you want to convey. I looked at both your color and bw. I tried to think of the subject and her gypsy essence. When I think of a gypsy, I think of the color red, fire. An adventurous spirit than lands where the wind takes them. I posted a workshop rendition of my interpretation. Somehow, I hope it helps you decide which way to go. Good luck and you did great job!

Hihi, i can see her dancing in front of me Manny. She is a beautifull muse. You are right, it is difficult to take potraits in Scandinavia, of people you don't know. People don't generally lik it...hihi, so does this mean i am still your muse...even though i haven't been posting in ages? ;-) The roles will have to turn and you can be my muse for a while, get me back on track.... I think i preffer the cropped WS as itis warmer then the B&W. The glwo and grain works well on it too. It is a bit blurry as expected when taking a shot like that using alot of zoom in not the best light conditions i would guess. It adds a bit dynamics to it so it is ok. Look forward to see more of your scandinavian shots Manny.

hi, i like the workshop image more coz it revelas more details, that's it :-)
overall great job manny

greetz,

goran

Actually, I like the original one, it has more of that signature of yours in it. And I agree that Gipsy means very expressive, passionable colors, plus the composition on original is more "Mannysh" :)
Still, it is nice to see you experimenting, B&W fits good here, because her face is blurred. She reminds me of Liz Taylor here...

Good job done!
Regards

Very interesting portrait. I like the accentuation of the light on her face.
I must say that the original in the workshop has a lot of attraction.

I like both copies, but the workshop one is my preference because of the colour. I tried a workshop for you, but it was a bit difficult with the highlights on her face. The image is a bit blurred Manny. Not your usual good quality. I expect the conditions was very low light.

Hik Manny,
Glad to see you back with a nice portrait.
I really like the mood of the composition.
Personnally I'd say that I prefer the Altered Image #1 version of that photo.

Hi Manny. This is a strong expression. She is a strong one. :)

Hi Manny

You gave us another excellent portrait photo.

I prefer the workshop version. It's more "natural" with great lighting.
