...in southern California.
This is a quiz photo. I dare you to tell me why a shot taken while departing from Cyprus carries that particular title?
It is also another tribute to the lessons I am slowly learning around here which can be boiled down to: Anything goes if you know how to.
I always get a window seat on planes and carry my camera with me in the hope of views like this. And I assure this departure from Paphos was a nice way to round of a week in Cyprus.

Technically the usual standard enhancement and filtering - and addition of an extra 747 courtesy of Boeing and PSP9.

I was gonna say...no rain??? it has been raining aaaaallll day long here. I was soaking wet whe i arrived at work today. The i read it was in California. I always try to get the aile seat when i fly, so i can stretch my legs and walk up and down. But whni look at this shot i am wondering if idid the right choise hehe. A view and a shot like this is an uncommon blessing.

Great shot Per, I too try and get near the window, not that I fly very often. But never managed to get a shot as good as this, this is a cracker. Well done.

Peter

the colors are beautiful! great shot!

Maybe because you are above the clouds, lucky old Per huh, jet setting again.

Or maybe because you are moving from one place where it doesn't rain so much to another. Anyway heavenly sun and cloud scene. I do so love flying can't help but envy you a bit my friend...

A room with a view - and a helluva lot of other people in it as well ;o).
This sky is stealing the show for me Per, definitely!
But technically I see two problems... the first one is the biggest: jaggies on the edge of the motor. Downsizing too fast, maybe ? The other one is minor, as it has to do with the added 747: it is rather unsharp - but that can be forgiven, as its slipstream (and the heat from the exhausts) would cause the air to tremble; but... it's very pixelised as well.
Nice idea to include it though - almost impossible to see IRL, unless an air traffic co-ordinator messed up big time!

Nice picture, and colours. The plane on the left looks like it's stamped in there (does not look very real) but the picture is great.

(I agree with Francis) Hot country and you are above the clouds are logical explanations to that name that you have chosen, pilots fly around the weather, if they can.

Hi I like the colors and how you framed this picture. Thanks for sharing, Iris

Pretty close, if it was real, you'd be in a vortex. What happens when you are in a vortex? Ask the pilot. LOL
Excelent work, a beautiful sunset and capture, well done on this composition.

Mike

A wonderful sky shot Per. I love the colours you have capured and the fact that you had the opportunity to take such a great shot. I once had a view of a wonderful sunset on a flight from Jamaica to Canada, but I didn't have a camera at hand. It's pretty difficult to get a good shot from an airplane window as they are double glazed with a big gap between the layers and it is hard to avoid reflections. You have done a great job here though. The sunset from on high is just great.
PS. I have no idea why the shot relates to the title.

This is a very good one, whith a lot of rich elements like this splendid sky, the plane and the foreground from yours.
Well composed and balanced and this quality is high.
I like very much

Bonjour Per,
Dangerous situation there in southern California. A near miss with a plane in Cypress. Good you were their, otherwise we would believed you. I see some turbulence near the wings of the Cyprus plane.
Great picture with a nice add on.

Beautiful sky part Per and you captured it very well...for the extra Boeing, I would have placed it further away , closer to the horizon ..that way the scaling would look better ....
