[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This probably looks like something more suited for TrekEarth or even TrekNature. But it would be cheating in both cases. Cyprus is not home to cactuses of any considerable size, and these are cultivated and not wild. And the Arizona-look is pure trickery. This plant stood in a front garden, was about 12 inches (30 centimeters) tall, and I had to put the camera flat on the ground to achieve the angle and the perspective that you see. The mountains in the background are of course real - and the reason I could try for this Wild West image.
(I also thought the whole thing looked like a hand making a maybe not so friendly gesture at the tourist - but I won't get into that.)

Resized, clarified, saturated and sharpened - my standard treatment for the web of general nature shots.

Fooled me Per. Thought it was a huge cactus as well. Great job. Hehe, your note made me laugh. Have a great evening.

Per, and what is the signal of the hand? hehe.
Excelent work and details. The middle finger is leaning abit, what, a couple of degrees. :)
Excelent DoF.
Well done

Mike

You tricked us very well, Per. You had me fooled completely. Excellent colours, your Wild-West creation does work! PP work is great as usual. TFS.

You sure had me fooled, Per. Your PP on this cactus is nothing short of simply amazing and impressive. Well done..:O)

I thought it was a huge cactus too until I read your note Per, You did a great job here in pulling my leg. And an even greater job in creating this picture from a potted cactus. Well done

Well Per! You have pulled my leg here, I thought it was a real big cactus, several meters high! Nice trickery shot!!

Points tomorrow, I ran out...!
Points added today!

Thanks for the laugh - the pp is unbelievable !

nice shot! tricky....I like the yellow tone on the cactus, plus the sign if it's a hand....tfs!

Funny thing that it does look like a hand gesture, it must be something to see this in a garden. I also like the lighting in this shot very much.

Wow! The sharpness is amazing. I really thought this was a HUGE cactus. You took this from a great point of view. Very well seen.

you see what a pov can achieve!nice shot, good colours and nice sky.good compo but the hand only has 4 fingers! ;o)
well done!

This is the good place to post it so I can say according to TL decontration :
Gee! Its ET's fingers, I knew he was in Cyprus, but does not look to be its usual color, should he be sick ?

It would have been on TE, I would have say :
Look good as a composition whith these colors and shapes. A bit too much lost space (should have cut at the top) But mainly the POV an DOF here offers a high cactus and a lovely landscape. Sharpness helps in the texture. This is a real Cactus.

On TN :
For a botanical shot I suggest a bit more focussed on the catus to blur the background.
Any way the subject is interesting and I suggest a visit to http://www.arizonacactus.com/ to have a good Idea of what cactus are. And yours is one.

Compliments
Jean Michel

Looked like any other arizona cactus shot, until I read your note, now I'm smiling ear to ear! What an amazing eye for detail to even think of this. I'm very impressed, so clear and sharp, the strangest "cactus" I've ever seen. Excellent photo!
