Our boat was sailing between Limassol and Paphos, two major towns in the south of the island of Cyprus.

This area, rich with history and legesds has magnificent sunsets and is very rich in colours.

One legend has it that Aphrodite, goddess of love, lust, beauty, and sexual reproduction, was born out of the sea foam (Aphro=foam, dite=born out of water) near Paphos, Cyprus, at a beautiful area today known as Aphrodite's Rock. Aphrodite was worshipped in Paphos, where there is even a sanctuary dedicated to her dating from 1500 B.C. The Roman equivalent of Aphrodite is Venus.

Another legend is that the same rock is called Petra tou Romiou in Greek, meaning The Rock of the Greek. A giant named Digenis Akritas threw a large rock to defend Cyprus from Saracen ships who were invading the island.

I liked the subject, the ambience, an excellent one for me.
