I often wondered why no Iranian TL member has yet posted a photo
of the most famous monument in Tehran. Or maybe they have and I havent
seen it.
Any way, here it is. Unfortunately I dont know much about its history.
All I know is that it is the symbol of Tehran, it was made long before the
1979 revolution, and it still has a fairly modern shape! It was called
"Shahyad" and then renamed to "Azadi" (freedom) tower after the revolution, located in the middle
of Iran's biggest square. You can see the tower is fairly big comparing to
the size of people walking around it.
I dont know whats in it, or on top of it, but I've heard there is a
museum under it.
I know the tree is in the way, but I dont have any other clear shot of it. This is
the only one I have, again shot from inside a car turning around it. However, I will try to find the time to shoot a better photo (with the big Sony, not the crappy little Mercury! :) I think its worth it, specially a night shot with the lighting on the tower looks very nice. I do have a few night shots taken from the internet but I wont post them here of course because they are not mine :)
PP: The sky was blue but due to the usual air polution around this tower,
the blue was not very clean, so I changed it to something that at least
makes the tower stands out better.
As usual, your comments and workshops are welcome :)

waw!is this 4 real!great shot!it's so unreal:the building,the light, the colours!

Salam Hamed,
this is phantastic, I love the bright white architecture against the dark and dramatic sky, excellent shot.
I also like to hear about the history of your country and this building, I don't know much about the Iran, it was too "far away" for me in the last years, not the way, more the way of life, I can't visualise only to go outside as a woman with cover up a black cloth.
I'd like to visit your country sometimes, must be great, thanks for those shots, please show us more, bye

Hi Hamed.

I hope you take another picture of this bulding as it is very interesting. I see the work you have done, trouble is that i can see it.

The line around the tree disracts from an otherwise good shot

Great shot. I love to shot from Shahyad but really it's hard to stop the car & go to shot. You can understand what I mean.
I hope you take another picture as it is very interesting.
Well done & have a nice weekend.

Very interesting image of this monument. I like the color change you made to the sky...it gives the tower a dramatic background. Also, thanks for the info in your note.

hey Hamed
surprising building but very respectfull of the architecture style of your country I suppose.

Technically, the PP is not perfect (the blue line in the sky on the LH side is a bit irritating) but the composition is great (I wont have to crop your picture this time... hahaha)

seriously, you did a great job here and dont worry, for me the tree brings more life to the environment and it is aligned with the structure so it brings our eye to the top of the building accordely to the building wall it self

keep posting, I see that you are now addicted to TL ;o)

That's a very beautifull tower!
I think your PP helps transmite your point of view. Maybe it“s not perfect but I think you reach the objective - show us the way you see this building!
It looks very surreal!
I hope you get another chance to take a foto of this building.

Hi Hamed,
A most interesting shape and the leaning tree to mimick the slope. Well worth some pictures !
Were you satisfied with the PP you applied ? There are a few points I want to make.
Trees, like hair, are difficult to isolate from their background, but when you do, see that it fits the new background. Here's a rather unnatural gloom on the left side, giving away your PP from miles away ;-)
When a new background is added, it must be present at all places the old background was in, like the see-through parts of the building...
The buildings in the distant (new) background are sharper than the main object.
By changing the sky from dirty blue to muddy brown, the building looks browner itself, a change of luminance for the white parts would have made the building stand out better and look even more impressive.
I like the building and the composition of the picture, but PP-wise... give it a retry, it's worth it.
Kind regards

Bonjour,
