Priceless Memories

As we rolled by the groups of people, we wondered; “Where are these people coming from? There isn’t a town for at least twenty miles.” We saw so many expressions on the faces of these amazing people. Some were somber, some laughing, some in awe, some grinning, some sad, and some happy. It’s like you could see their whole lives in a single expression. For some, your heart broke because they were able to fit a family of seven into a mud hut no bigger than a bedroom, and still managed to crack a smile at you. It would have been nice to stop for a day and interact with these people and learn about their lives, to give them some encouragement and even pray for them. But of course, our orders were to stay with the convoy and stop under no circumstances. My main interaction with the people of this country on a daily basis is naturally with people that aren’t suffering from poverty due to the area of the city I am in but occasionally I should stop and remember that not everybody here is doing so well. All politics aside, I hope that this posting will give you a little better understanding of this area of the world. Please pray for the people of Iraq :0) Thanks.

I think this is the best... Great compo, the b&w works very well. TFS, Phil, and take care!

A great capture. I think the choice of B&W was excellent. The washed out sky makes us concentrate on the people present in this composition. I enjoyed reading your note, it is very informative. Thanks for sharing.

great shot like the people on the side of the road it really makes the photo BW is good choice well captured

I am not surprised at the uplifting note you have attached with this photo...Very nice.

I like the composition with the trucks being centered, but I would like to have seen a little tighter of a crop on the sides and bottom, maybe 1/4 inch...Great job as usual Phil!

It's your note again, Phil, great words from you ! Together with this picture, made in B/W, it's good work to let us see the reality...

Thanks so much, Phil, for your words of enlightenment and your wonderful photos. It gives us all a much better view of what is going on than any newspaper or network news program. This is a great photo.

This is a great picture. Looks exactly like something a professional could have taken down there. Tha B&W works perfectly in this case.

Hello Phil,

Awesome, I just went through your pictures and I must say you have a great eye. Also, you have an access to an area that many of us don't, so I hope to see more of your pictures. Also, I kind of use them as an alternative perspective from the mainstream media, as they tend to be a little repetitive.
Anyways, this a great picture with an awesome composition and DOF. It seems you are really low, can I ask you where you took this picture from?

Cheers, Jerome
