Cyclamen persicum - Primrose - Rakefet - רקפת at Giv'at Harakafot (The hill of Primroses) - near Kibbuts Gal'ed

Cyclamen persicum grows wild in south western Turkey, The Hatay and Adana Provinces of southern Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, the Greek islands of Rhodes, Karpathos and Crete, Algeria and Tunisia. There is no doubt that the populations through the Hatay, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel are natural, but there are theories that those in the various islands and North Africa may be plants which were introduced by monks or other religious orders as there appears to be a relationship between these populations and monasteries or at least cemeteries.

Cyclamen persicum grows in a variety of habitats: maquis, garigue, open scrub, rocky hillsides, abandoned olive groves, or in woodland. It grows from Sea Level to 1200m (3,940 ft). It is found growing on graves in the old Turkish Cemetery in Rhodes Town, and in snow on the top of the Golan Heights in Israel.

HI Tsilla
One of my favorite flowers which I always have a hard time keeping and now I see why.
What a wonderful walk it would be to see these in the wild.
Love the composition

Hello Tsilla
I would love to see this hillside - how wonderful the flowers look. Here in NZ Cyclamen are more often grown inside or in protected outdoor areas.
I wish I'd taken this photo :)

Bonjour Tsilla
J'aime beaucoup cette image avec cette pente fleurie et la belle lumière sur le vert derrière ces troncs d'arbres qui donnent caractère à cette composition.
Bonne journée
Cordialement

Hi Tsilla!

Great impression from this marvelous springs "portrait", looks real fine.
well seen and perfect captured.
Compliments and TFS
Kostas

Lovely flowers and woodland scene. I think a change in perspective would have avoided the road/path at the bottom which I feel spoils the shot a little.
warm regards
David

Tsilla,
Great light and composition. The framing added value to the picture.
Well done,
Wellilngton

Great composition with oblique and vertical lines. The play of light/colour (greens and yellow) in the background gives this image depth and appeal. It also contrasts with the flowers and foliage carpet.

Did you know that in France, cyclamens are the preferred flowers of butcher shops? Just because they last longer in a cooler environment.
