The Place
The picture was taken on a path found on the road from Arad to the Dead Sea.
Technique
I used a split-field filter (half a close-up lens) to get both the plants in the foreground and the landscape in focus. The camera was focused manually to infinity. With the small digicam, the lens has to be at a longer setting, else the edge of the half-lens will not be out of focus enough. |

Hi Tibi,
I like the plant at the front; it brings life to the lovely dry valley.
Very good detail and sharpness.

Nice FG details and a good composition with the eye being led into the distance

Good work and result! I like how alternates the focused and blurred areas. I think it would be interesting a lower angle to see more sky.
Nice composition with the plant in the foreground and the desert in the back. I like the thematic contrast (live/dead) and the color contrast. Regards, Yvonne
Ok this images has convinced me that it's high time I reread the English Patient. But first! I shall finish the book I'm reading now.
This photo- wow Tibi, beautiful. The dense contrast with the surrounding area and the plant is beyond gorgeous. This looks like one of those places where one could spend hours just sitting in reverie and awe... but feeling the need to go home, sooner or later. Really interesting technique, you've taught me something new. :) I just think the strange cascade of ranges in your image is strong and... weak (when we look at the colours) but in all, it's really... majestic. :)
Nature is divine- hopefully it'll stay with us.
Biance.
