[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The spectacle of a lonely tree in the desert is fascinating. The strong contrast between the living plant and it's mostly mineral environment is striking.
I took the picture of this acacia tree in the Red Cannion near Eilat.
Technicaly I had a problem to squeze this picture into the 200 Kbit allowed by TL and the final result has visible jpeg artifacts. Any advice on improving on this issue?

Hi Tibi,
I agree with your note. The lonely hero is always a beloved one.

On the squeezing your photo under 200k bit, in Photoshop, go to Image Size and put the max as 800pixels. Then press "ctrl+shift+alt+s" to save as web.. this will always retain the quality yet invariably keep your images under the given limit.

Regards,
Varun

Well seen! Good geometry and contrast but a bit over sharpened; interesting different textures of the land.

It's amazing where you can find life. In the middle of nowhere this tree grow and bring life to this lifeless desert. Nice work.

Hello Tibi,
I think that Varun gave you a good advice that I have to try as I live this same situation from time to time. This is indeed an unusual scenery. How can it grow there? I guess this specie of tree is adapted to it but it must feel lonely :-) This is a very good POV and composition with nice DOF. This is a very unique place. Thanks,
Claudine

Pt later..:)

Hi Tibi. An excellent image. The acacia in Australia tends to grow well in the arid places too. Well composed and good strong colour. I use Paint Shop Pro and any larger files I adjust the compression ratio with no loss of clarity. Gimp should have the same option I believe. TFS,
David

Bonjour Tibi,
Très beaux contrastes avec tous ces ocres.
On distingue bien les différentes "textures" du sol.
C'est étonnant l'adaptation de la nature...
