[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Halvah is a Middle Eastern confection. A number of variants of halvah are made, but the primary recipe includes a seed, nut, or grain, ground with a sweetener such as honey or brown sugar, and flavored with additions of ingredients such as rose water, saffron, dried fruit, or nuts. Halvah is a popular sweet treat across the Middle East, and it often appears at banquets and ceremonial occasions.

The word for halvah comes from an Arabic word hulw, meaning “sweet.” Some versions of halvah are so strongly sweetened that they can be almost painful to eat, while other variations are more moderately sweetened. Each cook has variations on the traditional halvah recipe used in his or her part of the world, and a myriad of flavor combinations are considered acceptable.

In the seventh century, the word halvah (from the Arabic for "sweet") referred to a date paste. Later on, semolina, which is made from wheat, became the main ingredient in halvah, and with its spread to various regions in the Near and Far East, sesame and other grains and seeds began to be used as a base for halvah.

hmm... this really looks tasty!
I have had halvah before (the Turkish version).. very good!
Nice colors and composition (crop) and fruits.
The image lacks just a tad of sharpness on the left, so maybe you were not right in front...

Hm.. no matter what... I'd like a taste!
Cheers,
Anneke

The idea here is great, and the composition is very good.
I would suggest you do another version though. Lighting food is tricky and a direct flash makes it all very flat. I think I put some instructions in one of my food shots -- instructions I got from a professional food photographer.
If you cannot find them, let me know and I will take a look for them.
FYI: Although most people would give this a "needs improvement" smiley, I think the effort and the composition deserve the marks.
Write me when you have tried it again with proper lighting

Blessings and Shanah Tovah (almost :))

Ciao Alex
