Utopia Park is a wonderful place in Israel. In this park you will see thousands of orchids, carnivorous plants, exotic tropical plants but also birds, parrots, peacocks, fish and some other little animals as sheep's or rabbits. Outside, your children will enjoy the playground, the maze hill or the Butterfly garden.

The park is also a garden Center. Utopia’s garden center is a national garden center featuring orchids, carnivorous plants, cacti, & a huge variety of tropical plants.

...it was in 1827, that a gentleman from Brazil by the name of Mr. Mackay gave a newly discovered orchid to the world famous Orchidist Sir William Hooker. Sir Hooker placed the unique new orchid into a brand new genus which he called Zygopetalum and named the first species, Zygopetalum mackayi, in honor of Mr. Mackay.
In the name Zygopetalum, ZYGON in Greek is yoke, like the device used on the next of oxen to pull ploughs. PETALON is petal, and this describes the way the petals are connected with a yoke type of connection.
After over a 100 years, people are now starting to discover these beautiful orchids and Zygopetalums are becoming very popular. Many of the species are readily available to the general public such as the original Zygoptalum mackayi, Zygoptalum crinitum, Zygoptalum brachypetalum, Zygoptalum triste and Zygopetalum maxillare. There are also many new and interesting hybrids available. Some of the well known hybrids include Zygopetalum Arthur Elle 'Bright and Blue' and Zygopetalum Blue Eyes 'Ben Her' AM/AOS Louisendorf.

merhaba alex;
ne güzel bir macro çekim, renk,ışık ve netlik harika...tebrikler...selamlar

Hi Alex,

Marvellous macro capture of the Orchid flower!

The details are perfectly shown with wonderful textures on their petals and the control on sharpness and taken from a nice POV, are additional qualities which beautify your picture greatly. The colors are very well shown. The dark BG gives great contrast to the bright purple colored orchids. Great informative note on Utopia Park, indeed.

Have a nice Sunday!

with best regards,
Paras

Hi Alex,
Interesting looking flower. Very simplistic capture, but does a good job to grab the viewers attention as it stands out against the black BG. Good job with the focus and exposure.

Scott.

ciao Alex..
i could say a good crop.. it exalts so well forms of your capture..
as a macro.. you have taken good details.. even if.. sure i should like to see at a different pov.. this one.. creates a flat effect.. in which we lose a but of tridimensional idea and depth..
anyway dont worry.. just a my opinion about.. colours and their forms.. here are incredible.. and your orchids are a little natutal masterpeace taken in a good way!
thanks
ciao Marco

N.B. thanks also for this truly interesting note!

Hello Alex,
The orchid variety shown has the most interesting and vivid petal designs. I do like the inclusion of buds ready to bloom, the darker bg provides good contrast. Best regards.
