| Petra (Greek, "city of rock"), ancient city of Arabia, in what is now southwestern Jordan, immediately east of the village of Wadi Musa. The stronghold and treasure city of the Nabataeans, an Arab people, Petra is referred to as Sela in the Bible (see 2 Kings 14:7). It was situated in the land of Edom, between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba, near the points of intersection of great caravan routes from Gaza on the Mediterranean Sea, from Damascus, from Elath (now Al ‘Aqabah, Jordan) on the Red Sea, and from the Persian Gulf. From the 4th century BC until the 2nd century AD, Petra was the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom. |

Hello Moncef
HOw are you?
THis is a lovely POV and capture of the Treasury. Great lighting and detail.
I really enjoyed walking up the long and meandering path up to this impressive building many years ago. It was well worth the trip up this mountain.
TFS,
regards,
Martyn
PS. Many thanks for your kind feedback to my photos. I am very pleased you like them :-)

Hello Moncef
Cannot imagine 4th century BC, ages ago!
You have really traveled a lot to many places of interests. This is a great historical place captured in such warm light and good color contrast. Good composition in this pov. Well done and superb Note.

And this fabulous city disappeared from western eyes for several centuries! It was abandoned in about 1100 and became a stronghold for desert pirates until it was "rediscovered" in in the early 1800s!
I love this place! I could spend weeks exploring it -- great stuff!!
Superb PoV of Ad-Deir, one of the fabulous tombs of the hills around the city.
I love the brilliant blue sky here
