~ Snowbound ~
During my visit to Jordan in 1991 I drove the full length of the Kings Highway. This road traverses the spine of Jordan, meandering 335km and passes through diverse ecologies including fertile green pastures, forested highlands and plateaus, valleys with fast flowing rivers passing underneath, and arid desert.
Jordan had recently had a rare fifth snowfall. This made my journey quite treacherous at times as the road was very steep and many bends were tight. The road was barely passable on occasions and down to one lane but I managed to keep going. It was bitterly cold up in the mountain ranges.
The scenery was all the more spectacular and the photo I have posted today demonstrates the blizzard-like conditions many Jordanians must have experienced just days before my arrival. I saw this signpost and thought it amusing, I just had to photograph it as the picture of the car was covered like it was buried in a blizzard. In reality, the signpost WAS almost lost in a blizzard! Fortunately my car wasn't though. :-) TFR.
PS. This is a scan of one of my slides. I have no record of the F-stop or exposure details. |
