Petra is an awesome place to visit. I spent a day there and found it wasn't enough to cover this vast and fascinating place. I was fortunate in that I benefitted in having the place practically to myself, I saw only a handful of tourists during this day at Petra, the Gulf War had ended only very recently when I arrived in Jordan hence I guess the urge to visit the ME wasn't strong.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, the Jordanians were very hospitable towards me and very helpful.

The Monastery is located very high in one of the mountain ranges and stands alone. It took over an hour to walk up the winding and steep track but it was certainly well worth it!

Sorry, no photo setting details available...this is a high quality scan from one of my many slides from this holiday. TFV.
