The camouflage is flawless until a part of the river gorge pounces at you by the razor sharp teeth.
Anaconda or python grabbing its unusual prey by the mouth. Taken from Samhan Mountain near our project in Dhofar, I just wanna share it here. I won't be nearing these river gorges anytime soon, I'l just stay in the resort hotel and be contented w/ the heated pool!

Hi Freddie,
Eek! Is my first respond. But I must say the gorge is beautiful. And the water so clear that you could still see the pattern below surface. I am just wondering what animal did this python actually caught? It must have suffocated it in the water and pulling it in... which I think is a bit of an effort.

Bravo for the capture. One of the best wildlife shots I have seen on TL. You caught the moment perfectly, both descriptively and, well, artistically due to the camouflage patterns of the rock and the snake. Yeah, I hate snakes and I dislike what I see, although its nature and wildlife and darvinism and all that crap, but that does not reduce the quality of this phot. Au contraire!

My advice: send this to as many magazines you can, I am sure few of them will publish it.

Bravo again.

A.

Hi Fred,

Wow, such a rare shot of this glutton anaconda. A perfect camouflage. You better not go to this place any time soon. :D Is the head was still in the water of above? TFS

Hong

This is really very very impressive !!!

ps.I'll come back with the points

Freddie
For me a photo should be either artistic or be able to tell a story. This photo falls into the second category. This fellow is like many of us - see something nice to eat and then take to big a bite!
Did you manage to stay with him for a hour or two? How far did he/she get with the meal?
Well done
Andrei

A powerful, rare and unusual moment from nature has been captured in this frame. Stratum of the rock is magnificient. Natural camouflage is really interesting. Well done Fred, nice shot.

Thanks for sharing it.

Good catch in more ways than one. TFS. K2

Fightening. Never seen this before, neither in real life nor on a photo. Interesting to see the srength of the anaconda in how it holds its body. Still - frightening... TFS! - Cordelia :)
PS: How long did it take the snake to deal with its prey?

cruel situation, but perfect camouflage

Hi Freddie,

my both thumbs up for this extraordinary excellent wildlife shot; an extremely rare opportunity. Bravo!

:)

Hi Freddie, This is an incredible composition. The snake certainly hides well against that backdrop. Beautifully delivered photograph. TFS. Murray.
