Forbidden Fruits at the ruins of the Baal Tempel, Palmyra, Syria

Palmyra (or Tadmor in Arabic) was in the ancient times a Greek outpost and was annexed by Rome in 217 A.D. For a long time it was a vital caravan city for travellers crossing the Syrian desert.

schade das die Fruchten zo verdemoliert werden!!

Well done, Achim, despite the bright daylight. The perspective showing some of the old ruins in the BG makes this image more interesting still. Question: When were these carvings made? They seem to be new(ish). - Cordelia :))

Hello Achim

First time that I see fossilized fruits.
interesting the look of the sculptures molded
the fruits.
I like the color of the stone and of this beautiful one he shines natural showing each details!
Congratulations.

An excellent addition to the theme Achim. The colour of the rock has come up well regardless of the harsher light and there is good overall detail. TFS,
David

Hi Achim,
Nice lighting, details and I like the desert colours.
It is difficult to assess scale Achim, how large are they?

Fantastic PoV of this frieze! and a great idea for the theme. I see that you were able to get there in May -- next to April, it is the prettiest time -- still some green (as I can see in your photo) and lots of blue sky, but well before the worst of the hot weather
