Red-Crested Pochard / Netta Rufina
This large Pochard, one of the Diving Ducks, is native to Europe and Asia. They inhabit mostly freshwater, prefering pools and deep protected areas along moving water.
In the breeding male, the head is rusty orange, breast black, sides white, wings brownish and the distinctive bill is red. In eclipse plumage he looks like the female but his bill remains red. The female has a dark brown crown and nape with pale grey on lower face and front of neck. Otherwise, she is dull brown. Her bill is reddish-brown.
They are unusual among ducks in that the drake will dive and bring food to the female during breeding season. Typical clutch size is 6-14 greenish eggs. Incubation lasts 25-27 days. They do well in captivity and mix well with other small ducks.

Macar ördeği (Netta rufina), ördekgiller (Anatidae) familyasından büyük bir dalıcı ördek türü.

Dalıcı ördeklerdendir. Erkekleri bu gruba giren ördekler arasında, kırmızı gagalı ve kırmızı ayaklı olan tek ördektir. Başları oldukça büyük, parlak kırmızı renkli ve uzun tüylüdür. Omuz ve sırt açık kahverengidir. Omuz tüylerinin önünde yarım ay şeklinde beyaz bir leke vardır. Göz rengi kırmızı, gerdan, kursak bölgesi, kuyruk sokumu, kuyruk üstü tüyleri ve karın siyahtır. vücudun yan tarafları beyaz, gaga parlak kırmızı, ayaklar kırmızıdır.
Dişilerde başın ve sırtın üstü kahverengi, baş yanları, çene ve karın beyazdır. Erkeklerin omuz kısmında bulunan beyaz leke bunlarda yoktur. Gaganın ucu kırmızı, geri kalan kısmı ise mavimsidir. Fotoğraf Mogan gölü – Ankara’da çekildi

Very nice capture of this Red-Crested Pochard.
We only have the Common Pochard and I have not seen it yet. The colours and DoF are very good here. I might have cropped a bit more behind the bird. I like the 1/1000 that you used to stop the motion. TFS. Karin
