Nemrut Dag (Mt Nemrud) is a mountain measuring 2,150meters in height. It is located near the village of Karadut in Kahta county in the province of Adiyaman. Both side of Mountain have several giant heads of Antiochos, the goddess Kommagene, Zeus-Oromasdes (the Graeco-Persian sky-god and supreme deity, and also the largest-sized statue), Apollo-Mithras, and Herakles-Artagnes so they can see worlds the best sunrise and sunset.
Following photos will show the giant sculptures of Mt. Nemrut.

Kings of the Kommagene dynasty from 80 B.C. to 72 A.D ruled Adiyaman and its vicinity. This kingdom, whose capital was Samosata (now called Samsat), was founded around 80 B.C. by Mithridates 1, father of Antiochos 1. The kingdom's independence came to an end with its defeat by Roman legions in the last of the Kommagene wars and it became part of the Roman province of Syria...

Hi Ugur,
What a strange and beautiful place this is!
Never knew it excisted - so good of you to take us there! A beautiful detailed picture with that wonderful sky above it - an what an atmosphere here.
So there have been craftsman from Persia and from Greece here in ancient times and made these statues of the Gods? And like a big part of Europe it was once part of the great Roman Empire. Thanks for all the info as well.

Merhaba Uğur Bey,
Comma laticede toplum-toplam anlamına Genos'da GEN'ler
anlamına, dolayısiyle commagenos: Genlerin Toplumu anlamına
geliyor.

This brings to my mind the Shelley poem Ozymandius (not sure of the spelling.) This must be a remarkable place to visit, it must feel quite spooky in some ways, particularly to think of how long these stone faces have been there.
Excellent metering and sharpness, good saturation. A great capture!
