Boğaz'ın Karadeniz kapısı sayıldığı için, bu jeopolitik ve ticari önceliği nedeniyle, tüccar kavimlerce önemli olan bu yer birçok defa sahip değiştirmiştir. M. Ö. Finikeliler, Yunanlılar ve Britanya bu sahiplerdendir.Bizanslılar döneminde, saldın korkusundan surların dışına fazlaca çıkılmamıştı. Bu nedenle Osmanlı devrinde olduğu gibi, bütün halinde bir Boğaziçi medeniyeti bu dönemde meydana gelmemiştir. Bizans döneminde Anadolukavağı'nın kuzeyinde İmparator Justinianusl., Mikail kilisesini, Patrik İgnatios'da IX.yüzyılda aynı isimli bir manastır yaptırmışlardı.Bizansın, Haçlıların, Cenevizlilerin hakimiyetinde bulunmuş, Venedikliler burayı ele geçirmek için çarpışmışlardır. Cenevizliler, Boğaz'a ve Karadeniz'e hâkim olmak amacıyla Paleologlar devrinde burada günümüzde de harabesi mevcut olan kaleyi yapmışlardır.BİZANS DÖNEMİ KALINTILARI (YOROS KALESİ)BYZANTIUM PERIOD In pre-byzantium period settling style appears scattered in the form of a single or a few constructions around water resources. The eldest evidences of civilization in Anadolukvağı within this period are Hieron and Dios temples. Since Bosphorus is a gateway to Black Sea his strategic place were an important trading place so possessed by lots of civilizations through history. (Phonecians, Greeks, etc.. in BC period) In Byzantium period siege threatens prevents to settle beyond citywalls. This prevents the establishment of an integrated Bosphorus culture. OTTOMAN PERIOD The Yoros castle in Anadolukavağı was conquered by Ottomans in 1305 but could not be kept for a long period. Anadolukavağı was conquered by Bayezid I during the conquering preperation of Istanbul in 1391. I.Bayezid walked along a very strong and crowded army and took the possession of the castle. This castle were used as a headquarter for Istanbul conquering preperations and for the construction of Anadoluhisarı castle. Field marshal Boucicaut, in 1399 intended to take castle Yoros back but could not dare to fight against Ottoman army but instead burned out a village lying in front of the castle. Between 1391-1414 castle Yoros were possessed by Ottomans and after the conquering of Istanbul, 1453, castle Yoros remained in Ottomans reserve again. Anadolukavağı is fortified with new citywalls and a customs office, quarantine, and a check point were constructed. A garrison is settled in castle Yoros. Bayezid II (1481-1512) constructed a mosque within the castle walls. It was confined to place fire at nights inorder to prevent ships to change route and hit ground
