Hi dear TL friends,

I am in Turkey for business but I spent some time to meet with Turkish TE friends.

They showed me two very nice places. We finished our trip at the Beylerbey place, close to sea. There, I made some pictures. We can see the gorgeous Ataturk Bridge and the Istanbul city, in background.

Beylerbey (from Beylerbeyi, Ottoman Turkish for "Bey of Beys", meaning "Commander of Commanders" or "Lord of Lords"; the equivalent of Grand Duke in Europe), originally Beglerbeg(i) in older Turkic, is the Ottoman title used for the highest rank in the hierarchy of provincial administrators (all military officers, at high levels generally pashas), in western terms a Governor-general, with authority over the Governors (Vali) of several vilayets, always (if not yet made) a Pasha, second only to the Grand Vizier.
Initially used for very large parts of the empire – all of Anatolia and Rumelia – in later centuries the title was used in various much smaller Ottoman eyalets.
Beylerbeyi is also the name of a neighbourhood of Istanbul, on the Asian side of the city, where the Beylerbeyi Palace is located.
