A boatswain's pipe or boatswain's whistle (pronounced "Bosun") is a whistle that is made of a tube that directs air over a grape-sized metal sphere with a hole cut in the top. The player’s finger holds the sounding chamber and causes a change in the pitch by opening and closing the hole.
The historical use of the boatswain's pipe was as a signaling device on a ship. Because of its high pitch, it could be heard over the activities of the crew and bad weather.
And it is still used in marine on the ships to inform the crew if the captain is on board or left the ship.the same ceremony happens at the hatchway everytime with the crew on guard for the commander of the ship or for the high ranked guests.
Today I am starting a serie of this whistlers. There happened a competition between the blowers and I was lucky enough to take about 5 shots to share with you.

I like this picture, for the detail that you
she colored and stiller for the cadet's glance
the expression of the eyes is strong.
