[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In Turkey military service is obligatory for all the men who're healthy and aged at least 20.If you have some acceptable reasons or continue studying at a university, then u might wear the uniform later.
But in case you couldn't get your report as a healthy one, then u have no possibility to wear it.It's very important to do that service for a man, especially if he's living at the rural parts of Anatolia.Indeed it's very hard for them to have a marriage there, just because he couldn't perform his military service. And it's always a prolonging wish & curiosity in themselves how their appearances would be in those dresses, uniforms.
Since nearly five years,Turkish General Staff started a program at some garrisons to hug those disabled boys with their families, and shorten the gap(if there is) between the people and the armed forces. These disabled boys are taken into service just for one day,and certificated afterwards. In the morning they're welcomed and get their haircut in a discipline, they wear the uniforms, they have the meal altogether with their families at the saloon, get their weapons for some exercise and fast-training for the ceremony(how to walk-where to stand-which way to turn etc.) in the late afternoon. And at the big ceremony, they repeat some words, give some promises and certificated by the commanders at the open buffet with their families. They are permitted to keep the uniforms with them at their home and everytime they look at the dresses, they will memorize every tiny details of that day. From now on,it is an unforgettable day in their lives for any of them.
Turkish General Staff realizes this performance at May during The Week For Disabled Persons as a partial ceremony every year.
I am starting this theme today and this is the first post of a serie. This boy is unable to use his arms and hands regularly, and his legs and feet as well. But I am deeply influenced by his happy face;actually I must admit that I have not seen a happier face.

I can't see anything telling about his invalidity you talk about in your note. And I like that very much. The blurred hand in the bottom, seem to be his, and you can't tell he suffers from a health problem.

I really like this photo. It is full of life and a good energy. This boy has a happy face indeed.

What a lovely portrait of this young man. It is a happy, carefee photo and he has quite a spontanious laugh. Nicely captured. And BW is good, even showing the blue at his neckline.
And your notes well written and very interesting. Thank you Nejat.

This is a wonderful thing that is done in your country. The joy on his face is precious. Lovely shot. Well done.

The nice décisive moment shot.
I like this excellent expression of joy.

Very human, warm photo Nejat. It's a nice idea for the Turkish General Staff to give these people an opportunity to be 'soldiers for one day'. It obviously means a lot to the men featured in your series. Thanks for the informative not too.

What wonderful Joy. A beautiful moment in time. Captured forever. Congratulations. This ceremony for disabled people is so heartwarming. We have a company in Shepparton, where all of the employees are disabled, they learn to operate machinery and work in a business, and are paid for the work they do each day. i recently toured this place and saw the joy the people employed there felt at just having a job. so i can understand what you saw and felt whne you saw these young men being given this opportunity. Thank you for Sharing this with us. Your photograph is also beautiful.

Beautiful smile
