[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi TL Folks!
I recently found a very useful tool in making still lifes..with black glass.

Setup was taken on Sigma EF 500 set to wireless i-TTL slave flash placed on the lower left of the image and bounced on a white reflector ,flash head angled and built in flash set to commander mode -2 E.V for frontal fill in.
And to add more effect, i used a polarizer not to eliminate reflections but rather enhance the reflections to the maximum possible. i call it "reverse-polarizing" =)
The lens was angled at a 45 degree POV, i noticed i got the most reflection on the glass. Your ceiling must not have any hanging objects otherwise it would reflect on the photo.
Placement and angle of flash head varies the effects also. I opted for this one. I used a yellow rose since it reflects more light, i had less success with red ones, as usual deep reds screws up the metering.
And lastly i added the water to have that "bathtub/bathroom" effect.

Well done. this is a great looking still life. Well lit, and well composed. BTW, when you use a polarizer it will remove reflections, but not enhance them. When set the way you have used the polarizer, the polarization effect is zero. The polarizer was acting more like a neutral density filter at this point.

Wow! You are right! It was in my intention to find a some large black ceramic plaque to do tricks like that... But i realised that a good black glass have powerful result! That's wonderful! The water is great with the rose, but the progressive light catch on the surface is excellent!

Excellent compo and details, I like the contrast between the black wet table and the intense yellow roses. Interesting light, very nice colors.

snap, though I like your treatment better I will take note of your technique. my table is out side and you can get some interesting sky reflections in it.

What a real beauty, Ian. Ok, I'd probably crop some more from top to lose the "stray leaf". But otherwise no remarks... I especially like the deep colours in the rose and the patterns made by the water.
