Both way are possible And i would surely going up and down again to see the different game of shadows! It's excellent the way you present it! It's full of delicate play of contrast who did a great patern.

Wonderful! Great view of the architectural details that give this image lots to look at. The shadows add even more shapes and contrasts, and the light goes well with your title as it takes your eye up and/or down the stairs. The colors are so warm and inviting it would be okay to just stand still for a while on those stairs:)
