Ok so here's another blue and yellow theme, this time with splashy splashy whatever. =)

I saw a martini glass from Ikea and i thought it would suit the shot i had in mind.

Setup:

Blue Gatorade
A slice of lemon
some ice.

The wireless flash is close to the subject so i wrapped it with plastic to prevent it from soaking if in case. A white reflector is set on the right. Black paper BG.
One major point is to backlit the lemon for it to become translucent so the yellow color would stand out.
Manual focus and manual exposure, i made somebody to drop a chunk of ice and timed the impact as best as i can. I made five shots only as my BG is soaking wet with droplets.
Of the five shots i chose this one since there look like a man with outstretched arms trying to fly.
All droplets as shot.

PP:
RAW on Nikon NX
Tiff -> levels -> canvas tilt
resized -> jpg -> sharpened and framed.

A very good technical implementation, the fluorescent color on the black pavement gives very well.
I like also the dynamics of the composition. I think short I like this image.

Hello my friend...

Happy Easter late, but heart!
And giving continuity in the segment of the blue,
you are giving a beauty show and charm in these drinks!
Beautiful, the drop on top, I think an athlete giving
a double one jumps outside of the glass!
Congratulations for the beautiful look!

Very well done, Ian. Thanks for another clear explanation of your set-up in the note. As for the shot, it's a beauty, though perhaps the reflector has cast a bit too much light on the backdrop, creating a bright spot on the left whereas the right hand side is pitchdark (luckily, as that contrasts beautifully with the bright colours of the "drink" ;o)

A quick tour in your gallery... I like very much your color tests.
This one, blue and yellow, is fantastic...
Sharpness, light and the greyscale of BG really give your shot an interesting mood.

Your ability to foresee and conceive these images in your mind is very impressive, Ian. The impact of the blue is indeed electric and the lighting is way beyond my limited abilities. I see a discus thrower in the drop not a man flying. Maybe it is a bit like cloud looking. Outstanding.

PS: You're cute in your new profile photo :)

Hi Engr Ian,

Good effect and photo you attained here. Kaya yung picasa lang use ko and some free from net.

I like your suggestions sa tea ko. Actually tahebo yun, tanim ko dito sa Cavite. Pati yung props na leaves to balance the handle from the other side at magmukhang artistic na din. Please if you have time, let me see what's in your mind by making a WS for me. I really appreciated it if you do that asap. Thank you very much mate.
Dennis

Hello Ian

I just took a peek at your gallery to to be quite frank I did not know where to start. Your work is inspirational! I had to make a choice for a critique and this was it..why? because I love the colour blue and I guess thats what attracted me the most. Of course many people capture water droplets and capture them sharply too. The difference here is twofold.. firstly of course the choice of colour but in addition I love the angle. Wonderful work indeed.

TFS kind regards Helen

hey ian,
